Nails In a Blender
03:21
|
|||
left me here to choose
either way I'm bound to lose
add a grain of salt to all my food
reaching for the sky?
you won't get there before you die
lucky if there's any fish to fry
I envision a new system
where everything is different
here, I'm a pretender
I envision a new system
for now, I'm in my kitchen
with nails in a blender
set out on your own
wanted gold, settled for stone
the scavengers have barely left the bones
running to the hills
to get lost in daffodils
reveling in all those natural thrills

Cheer Jerker
01:20
|

left out, let down, but around
like an overgrown parade ground
that pie in the sky is just a crusted slice
where there's a wall, know there's a fly
it's a plane, it's a bird, something absurd
who gets the final shot or the final word?
you'll grow to be outgrowing this family
I've come to terms and that's okay with me

Audible Oil
01:33
|
|||
rehashed trash to get you through dinner time
same taste with new waste
repackaged for your life
new trends are not as read on tablets
cheap thoughts on cassette
have damaged pure lives
in your grasp, in your ears
back after all these years
it's silky and so smooth
audible oil in the grooves
it's so ambivalent
drunk in your living room
compact and nauseous
so flip the record
it's the same on both sides

Bad With Money
02:59
|
|||
my next trick is a vanishing act
it takes change to make the paper back
I implore you to invest in the age
a penny saved is a pocket burned
beggars can't be choosers, but can be reformed
I adore those who can relish the wage
I see a green wave coming in
keep my head up as I swim
if I don't return, don't look for me
I'm bad with money
it's easy come and a rapid go
earning to spend something is always a stone's throw
I was somewhat a hyperactive kid
got enough to keep the wolf from the door
saw my reflection in the window, need I say more?
it was all but a piggy bank with no lid

Paranoid Void
00:49
|

two cars on the corner
dressed in blue
there's law and order
and then there's you
I'm on to something
you're on to me
you see me sitting
I see you leave
when do virtual words become real-world point of views?
I don't come to your house, sit in my car, and stare at you

Something to Itch
01:24
|

fading out won't satisfy the day
though it's a runaround to stay
chasing down the enemy, so brave
should be so easy to betray
i lost my head
you lost your way

Take It From Me
01:52
|
|||
the neighbor's laundry fills my nose
strawberry seeds in my teeth
who knows? you'll never know
anchors in my head
3 years since I last mowed the lawn
who knows? they don't know
take it from me now

Televised Opera

the sun peered through my eyelids mere seconds before my regularly scheduled alarm clock yelped with joy. one in the win column for me, boys
I sprung up out of bed, fresh as a daisy, ready to welcome whatever the natural and artificial world threw in my general direction
I poured my cereal and non-dairy "milk" into a mound, digested it whole, and hopped on my bike toward the honest buck
gliding by homeless folks, the epitome of cruelty on display at the intersection, I thought, "a man-made exhibit to prove a point?"
Take stride in the steps you’re walking
Yet squint at the light that’s darkened
A thread in the big unraveling
Let it be known, it can’t be sewn
Clicking randomly across my two screens and constantly rearranging and adjusting stacks of paper really makes the time fly
You’d be surprised the amount of trivial currency that can be made fixing your hair in the mirror, there to remind yourself to smile and not slouch (stand up straight!)
Traffic home can be a real inconvenience and environmental adversary, but like I mentioned earlier, I commute in tandem
I walk through the doors, greeted by “Hi How Are You?” but then I realized it’s Saturday and my cats need to be fed
We’ve been dissected through and through
There’s nothing better than a muse
To dilute the daily news, how can you refuse
To take part in such self-abuse. What do you choose?
